These ads are of varying quality. But I’m hoping they’ll start a database of bicycle models so at least you’ll have some reference point if you need to identify your cycle, as well as providing a brief review of the first 75 years or so of bicycle design.
When I buy an old vehicle, the first thing I do is try to find literature about it. The internet has been an invaluable aid in such searches. Nevertheless, unlike vintage motorcycles and cyclemotors, where such information is more freely available, veteran and vintage bicycle stuff is much harder to find. That’s how this website started. For a long time, I’ve been tripping over the vintage magazines piled up around me that are waiting to be scanned and added to this website. Scanning and uploading is a slow and tedious process. Especially as I keep buying more magazines with information and images to add! Nevertheless, bit by bit, they’re finding their way onto this particular little spot in cyberspace.
I can not guarantee the dates I’ve added, as they’re often dependent on information I’ve received. This is a non-commercial website. I work on it every day to add further images and update information.
Finally, broadband speeds should allow the images to load reasonably fast, but please bear in mind that image-based websites such as this can sometimes take a while to load a page full of pictures. Enjoy 🙂
